Practice at home

Practice time is not conversation time

Keep correction inside short practice sessions so everyday talk stays easy and warm.

When every sentence is corrected, talking can start to feel like a test. Children may then talk less, which is the opposite of what helps.

A simple rule: during practice, focus on sounds. The rest of the day, focus on what your child is saying, not how they say it. Respond to the message, and model the word naturally in your reply.

For example, if your child says “I saw a wabbit”, you might reply “You saw a rabbit? Where was the rabbit?” without asking them to say it again.
